Prayers of the Church, January 17, 2016

God with us, you were made manifest among us on earth as the man Jesus Christ, the worker of miracles. Inspire us to rejoice in and make use of the many and various gifts and services that we in our congregation offer to honor and serve you; as pastors, lay leaders, teachers, musicians, and so many other roles that make our worship meaningful and that strive to bring peace to our community and our world. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Loving God, we think today of the 60 women of our church as they gather in restful retreat at St Mary’s. May their time together be one of spiritual renewal, of deepening friendship and sharing. Bring everyone home safe and refreshed. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Righteous God, this week we mark the birthday of Martin Luther King. Like King, let us be determined to work and fight until justice runs down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream. Give us strength to serve you by serving our neighbor. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God, you are indeed the balm for cares and sadness. Be with those among us who need your loving hand as they struggle with grief, loneliness, doubt, financial difficulties, job loss, relationship issues, or addictions. Grant help, healing and wholeness to those on our prayer list and to all those whom we name now in spoken word or silent thought………..Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
