Prayers of the Church, January 31, 2016

Gathered together by God’s Spirit, we pray for the church, the world, and all those in need. Brother and sisters, in our prayer of the day we thanked God for the Holy Scriptures created for our nourishment. Then we heard a portion of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians teaching us how we are created to work together using our individual gifts. Let us be nourished and encouraged to be part of the body of Christ with all that means. Lord in your mercy

Blessed Lord God we pray, as we have been requested to do, for the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and for the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg as they create a new thing – to equip the leaders your church needs today. Lord in your mercy

Blessed Lord God who knows our every anxiety, and knows how anxiety is exacerbated by the many ways we are bombarded with what passes as news, be present in us we beg you. So draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated to you, and then use us, we pray, as you will, but always to your glory and the welfare of your people, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lord in your mercy

Blessed Lord God, you are the source of all health and healing. Grant to your children and awareness of your presence and a strong confidence in you. Surround those whose names we lay before you now with a strong sense of your presence and the peace only you can give. Lord in your mercy
