Eternal Father, as we sang in our opening hymn, you are our help and our hope, our shelter, our guide and our home. Strengthen our faith in you and lead us to accept your gift of grace. Hear us O God. Your mercy is great.
Guiding Father, today we give special thanks for fathers. Like you, they soothe our fearful hearts, wipe our tears, protect us and guide us. Give wisdom and energy to all those who nurture children, so that they can be living examples of your faithful love and sacrifice for us. Hear us O God. Your mercy is great.
Faithful Father, we ask your blessing today on the ASP and vaction bible school leaders, volunteers and participants. May this be a time of spiritual renewal and commitment to joyful lives of service. Be with our pastors, our lay leaders and council, and all among us who serve you in our congregation and in our many ministries within our wider world. Keep us safe in your loving care. Hear us O God. Your mercy is great.
Loving and comforting Father, the hearts and souls of America are indeed broken as we continue to learn about the evil actions and motives behind the murders at Emanuel AME church in Charleston. We in Upper Dublin stand with the Emanuel AME congregation and family members as we watch them respond to hate, violence and intimidation, not with vengeance, but with enormous dignity and faith. We remember that Emanuel means ‘God with us’. They truly hold the weapons of righteousness and holiness of spirit in their hands and hearts. Hear us O God. Your mercy is great.
Merciful Father, bring peace to the war-weary, solace to the grieving, comfort to those who suffer from illness, addiction, abuse, disaster and injustice. We pray for our military and diplomatic services, for all those on our prayer list, and for those whom we name before you now by spoken word or silent thought. Hear us O God. Your mercy is great.
