Because of Jesus’ life, and His death for us, we have all received richer and fuller lives; eternally and immediately. Life in Christ can now be lived on a higher plane because of His overflowing forgiveness, love and guidance. We need not be overwhelmed with guilt for our shortcomings, because Jesus has forgiven us. We need not feel unloved, because Jesus’ death was the ultimate act of His love for us. We need not lack for guidance, because we only have to look at every word spoken by Jesus, for a clear and unambiguous path to live our lives. To the unbeliever, this is all a mystery beyond understanding. But, to a believer the comfort of all that Jesus was, and is, surrounds us like a warm blanket on the coldest night. We thank you in humbleness for all You give us. let us pray. Have mercy, O God.
We pray for our world, for the many who are without hope, without comfort. When we have so much, how can we understand how someone feels who leaves their home and everything they had to walk away from violence, to a refugee camp; what can we do for a child who boards a boat to cross a vast sea to seek freedom, who may never reach the other shore, alive. Christ came to comfort and to save all humanity, and we, who profess to be disciples of Christ, must pray and work tirelessly; to use the skills and resources God has given us to solve the problems of our world. We also pray for the safe return of all our troops who serve abroad and for an end to our wars there.
let us pray. Have mercy, O God.
We pray for your church in the world, and for our church here; for our pastors, for our church council and church leaders, for Sunday school and nursery school teachers and for the work of Chosen 300. We also pray for those in our church family who have special needs; for all who suffer and need your healing power and spiritual guidance; and for those who have told us of their needs and those we name before you now.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
