Prayers of the Church, Maundy Thursday, April 2nd

As we enter these Holy Days, together let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God's creation.

Lord, let us rememeber the heart of the Maundy Thursday liturgy that Jesus has commanded us to love one another.  As Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, wer are called to follow his example as we humbly care for one another, especially the poor and the unloved..  Hear us, O God.  Your mercy is great.

Free all from bondage, as you did for Israel, the first chosen of your covenant. Free us all from the bondage of sin through the new covenant in Christ's blood. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

For all who long for deliverance from oppression; for regions of the world torn by strife or violence; and for national and local leaders, that they may be servants of those most in need. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

We remember in our prayers and thoughts the passing of Addie Balderson and Joe Steur. Teach us to apply our hearts to the wisdom taught by Jesus Christ, that he is the way and the truth and the life. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.

For this congregaton, that we would take up whatever cross is laid upon us and gladly carry it, sharing in Christ's death that leads to his everlasting life. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
