2019 Tanzania Visitors

Upper Dublin is excited to welcome three visitors from our partnership in Tanzania. Pastor Happyness Elinami Lyimo, Christine Christopher Hellar, and Robert Manase Abdallah. They will be visiting with the congregation as well as participating in educational and site seeing opportunities.

Pastor Happyness Elinami Lymo

Pastor Happyness Elinami Lyimo

Pastor Happyness Elinami Lyimo is the head of Lwandai Secondary School.  Many of UDLC's scholarship students attend Form 1 through 6 at this school.  Happyness was Chaplain of the Cathedral Church for four years and hosted a delegation from Upper Dublin on one of our trips to Tanzania.

Christine Christopher Hellar

Christine Christopher Hellar

Christine Christopher Hellar is a member of the Friendship/Scholarship committee of the parish Upper Dublin works with.  She is a graduate in Special Needs Education, was a secondary school teacher for 18 years, and served as head of the school for two years.  She now works with the District Council in the education department.

Robert Manase Abdallah

Robert Manase Abdallah

Robert Manase Abdallah is the music teacher at Vuga Bible School and plays music and directs the choir for Sunday Services at the Cathedral Church in Lushoto.  He has written and performed music with Upper Dublin's own Andrew McMaster.

Eveline Shekiando and Patrick Loti

We were excited to have two additional guests: Eveline Shekiando and Patrick Loti but their visas were denied.  Eveline is on staff at the Cathedral Church working in Christian Ed. & Youth ministries.  Patrick is one of our first scholarship students who now works as a computer tech in Dar es Salaam.  Patrick also serves as the interpreter and guide when UDLC visits Tanzania.

Opportunities to Gather

Our guests will arrive on March 26th and depart on April 9th and will have a variety of opportunities for our visitors and congregants to spend time together.  Please join us for one, two, or all of the following events:

March 31st and April 7th: Sunday morning worship at 7:45, 9, or 10:30.

March 31st at 6 pm: We will have a Global Mission Potluck Dinner on Sunday for everyone interested in hearing from our visitors.

April 6th at 5 pm:  Dinner to learn about schooling in Tanzania for our scholarship students hosted by Debbi DiBatista.

April 7th at 4 pm: Scholarship Program Dinner for all those who donate and work with our Tanzania partnership.

 Opportunities to Explore

While our guests are here, they will be participating in a variety of activities with our Global Mission Team to learn more about Upper Dublin Lutheran Church, Ambler, PA, and the United States.  We look forward to welcoming them and sharing with them our lives here.

Our guests will take trips to:

  • New York City, NY
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Site and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA
  • Ocean City, NJ

They will enjoy activities such as:

  • Visiting with the staff of Upper Dublin Lutheran Church
  • Visiting our schools
  • Visiting with For the Spirit, Chimes, Bells, Kids Choir
  • Visiting United Lutheran Seminary 
  • Meeting with Bishop Patricia Davenport
  • UDLC Women's Bible Study and the Men's Lunch
