    What to Expect Sunday Morning

We worship at 7:45, 9:00, and 10:30 every Sunday. UDLC is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, so make yourself at home. Each service is a little different. We joke that they are like the story of the three bears. You can try them out and find the one that feels "just right" to you. You can read about them in more detail here. Here's a helpful list of what you can expect to experience when you visit on Sunday morning from when you pull into the parking lot, getting around the church, following along in worship, and the all-important coffee bar.

  • What to Expect Sunday Morning

We worship at 7:45, 9:00, and 10:30 every Sunday. UDLC is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, so make yourself at home. Each service is a little different. We joke that they are like the story of the three bears. You can try them out and find the one that feels "just right" to you. You can read about them in more detail here. Here's a helpful list of what you can expect to experience when you visit on Sunday morning from when you pull into the parking lot, getting around the church, following along in worship, and the all-important coffee bar.

Parking

We have two parking lots at the church: a large main lot right in front of the church, and a smaller lot on the side. There are handicapped parking spaces in each lot near the entrances. We are about 1.5 miles from the Ambler SEPTA station.

Entrance

When you enter the church through the main entrance, you’ll enter the lobby area. You’ll see people milling about, and screens and signs with church news and information about upcoming events and programs. Bathrooms are on the right.

Coffee Bar

If you have a few minutes to spare before worship begins, stop by the coffee bar—we sometimes call this the Son Room— which also has tea and light snacks. If the weather is nice, step outside into our beautiful Memorial Garden. Coffee runs all morning from 7:30am to 12:00pm.

Worship Services

Worship happens in the main sanctuary. Sit anywhere and feel free to bring your coffee with you. The pastors do. :) Our services include readings from the Bible and a message from one of our pastors. We have Communion every Sunday at 7:45 and 10:30. At the 9:00 service we have Communion on the first Sunday of the month. Everyone is welcome to receive Communion.

Everything you need to follow along with the worship services is either printed or projected on the large screens in the sanctuary. All the parts of the service are clearly laid out and the pastors provide additional guidance and explanation throughout the service.

Children

Children have a central place in worship at UDLC. Although nursery care is available for children up to age 3, children of all ages are encouraged to take part in the service. Children talk about Bible readings with the pastor during a special children’s time as part of the 7:45 and 10:30 services. Sunday School for kids of all ages and the Adult Forum for adult learning is from 9:00-10:00, concurrent with the 9:00 service.

Sunday School and Adult Forum

If your child will be coming to Sunday School for the first time, please contact our Christian Education director, Livvy Steffens. She will make sure you find the right classroom and meet you there to welcome you and introduce you to the class teachers. On your first visit to Sunday School we’ll ask you to fill out a short contact information form, so we know how to reach you. If your child comes more consistently, and we hope they do, we have a longer registration form we ask you to complete.

Nursery Care

Nursery care staffed by two paid attendants are available from 8:45 to 11:45 for children up to 3 years of age.

Music

At 7:45 and 9:00, our band For the Spirit provides the music with a combination of original songs and songs taken from contemporary Christian groups like Casting Crowns and Mercy Me. At 10:30, we sing hymns, which are accompanied by organ and the choir. Special musical ensembles, including our kids choirs, play and sing on various Sundays and service through the year.

A Moment of Friendship

During the offering time, we have what we call a “moment of friendship.” There are blue “friendship” tablets on the end of each pew, which we pass around. You can use that to sign up for our weekly emails (we promise not to spam you!), or indicate if you are interested in receiving a visit from one of our pastors, or joining the congregation. With such a large congregation and a regular flow of newcomers and visitors, it's a great way for us to connect. You can also stay in touch through our Facebook page.

Did We Mention Coffee?

There’s no need to rush off after the service. Swing by the coffee bar for some coffee (or tea) and food.
