You can lift the spirits of our soldiers stationed overseas    

Among the boxes for receiving items on Sunday Morning, are ones designated for care packages for our soldiers. There’s quite a surprising list of what we send, including stuff animals, magazines, candy, toiletries, and other items. The soldiers write us about how much they appreciate knowing that they are cared for back home.  

Some soldiers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan receive no mail. Mail is a lifeline to home, a moral builder and a small treat for a soldier away from home for a year. At UDLC we seek to answer this need by mailing care packages to our troops. We look for away to send mail to soldiers who wouldn’t get mail otherwise. Most of addresses are obtained from the ANYSOLDIER web site where we look forpeople such as the chaplain who has 100 men and 100 women on her contact list.  Sometimes we get an address of a friend or loved one deployed. We have a collection point in the lobby for worshippers to donate items to be shipped. Sometimes we publicize frequently requested items in This Week.

 We accept cash donations for postage and specific items. We know from the letters and emails we receive that this is a powerful witness to those who receive our packages and letters. And it helps us to help our troops.
