Spiritual Growth Opportunities for Adults PDF Print E-mail

UDLC hosts a variety of programs for its adult membership and to the community which it serves. The common purpose of each is to provide for the participant an experience for spiritual growth and awareness. Some of these programs fall under the direction of the Adult Christian Education Coordinator, Dottie Long, while others are organized and implemented diDotty Longrectly by our pastors, Al Douglass and Dyan Lawlor, or by individual members of the congregation. Our programs evolve as the needs of our congregation and the community require. Each program provides the participant an opportunity to grow and share within the comfort of a small and supportive group. We welcome you to access our website and to read our church publications to learn more about these exciting opportunities waiting for you in your spiritual journey

The following is a current listing of adult programs which operate under the umbrella of the Christian Education Program and its Adult Education Coordinator, Dottie Long. Please contact Dottie for details about existing programs or to share your ideas about new programs which you would like us to consider. Adult Christian Education Programs for 2006-07

1. Sunday Adult Classes

A broad variety of biblical and timely religious topics are studied and discussed during the year. Emphasis is placed on growing in our spiritual journey through informal, interactive dialogue. Progams are led by different leaders as we move through the year. The Class meets on Sundays, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, in either the Lounge or Fellowship Hall.

2. Wednesday Women's Bible Study: Pastor Dyan Lawlor, Leader

Starting on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 this women's study group meets every Wednesday, 9:15 to 11:00am in the Church Library.  We will be continuing our study of the gospel of John.  One does not have to be a scholar of the Bible to learn and grow in this informal study.  All are welcome to attend.  Our study ends in May.  A church nursery with babysitting is available.

3. Men's Christian Studies: Deacon Fred Renigar and Pastor Arvid Anderson, Leaders

This men's study group meets on Monday mornings from 6:15 to 7:30am on the second, third and fourth Mondays of the month. All men are welcome at any time. All who come are encouraged to bring a friend and to enjoy an informal, relaxed approach to Bible Study and fellowship for men.

4. Annual Women's and Men's Retreats:

These annual weekend retreats are excellent opportunities for Christian fellowship and spiritual growth for members of our congregation as well as interested members of the community. Carol Douglass, Lisa Clark and Barbara Teel serve as leaders for the women's retreat and Fred Renigar coordinates the men's group.

5. Small Group Studies and Seminars:

Specific topics and studies are undertaken throughout the year by way of small groups meeting at the church or in individual homes of members.
